Forest Lake MI
Au Train Falls is a cascade of several small drops dropping about 50 feet over a 200 foot stretch. This is a wide spot near the beginning of the Au Train River just downstream from the power dam. A short, easy walk from the parking lot down the hill takes you to a small, wooden bridge from which Au Train Falls cascade is visible.
How to get to Au Train Falls:
- From MI-28 in Au Train Village, drive south on Arbutus Street (County Road H-03) to Power Dam Road (7.5 miles from MI-28 in Au Train).
- Turn left (east) on Power Dam Road and rive to the parking area at the bottom of the hill.
- From the parking lot, walk to the generating plant (the gate is to keep cars out). Down at the bottom of the hill, to your left, you will see a the small building which houses the power plant and a small wooden bridge over which the [plant is accessed. From this bridge you can get an excellent view of the cascade as you look upstream (to the south).
(If you get to Dixon at the intersection of MI-94, you have passed Power Dam Road by almost 200 yards.)
Note: They list an upper and lower falls. From the bridge you will see the lower falls; the upper falls is nothing more than rapids.
