Rogue-Umpqua Scenic Byway
(Toketee OR)
Depending upon who is exclaiming, Watson Falls is the 2nd, or 3rd, or 4th highest waterfall in Oregon. Whatever the real truth is, it is about 272 feet falling in two steps. Starting with a tiny step from a narrow crevice in the cliff it seems to gather strength then plunges another 225 feet to the pool, below. This is all in a sort of amphitheatre setting.
How to get to Watson Falls:
From Forest Road #34 (where you turned off for Toketee Falls), continue east on Hwy 130 for 1.3 miles to Forest Road #37 (also called Fish Creek Road). Turn right onto the Forest Road and follow it about 400 yards to the parking lot and picnic area. The footpath loops up, over a bridge and back down to the parking lot, a total of about a half mile. Don’t stop at the bridge because, as we found, the best place to view the falls is a little beyond it.
