Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area (Multnomah Falls, OR)

The 611 foot high, 30 foot wide Multnomah Falls drops down a cliff on the north side of Larch Mountain in giant steps. Fed by springs, the water flow is significant year round but more abundant in the late Winter and Spring months when snow melts increase the amount of ground water.

Though you can view Multnomah Falls from the highway, a short path takes you to Benson Bridge which is between the upper and lower falls. The impact on your eyes and ears will probably stay with you for the rest of your life! After viewing this hydrospectacular attraction you will understand why this is the most visited attraction in Oregon.

Nearby is the Multnomah Falls Lodge, a historic landmark, and now functioning as a Forest Service Information center. Rock hounds will be interested that every type of rock found in the Columbia River Gorge is represented in the Lodge. 

In the upper portion of the lodge is a restaurant  serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.  The restaurant is assessible by elevator for people with disabilities.
